The Building Types screen allows you to create and modify the building types used to categorize the buildings in your district. You can create any number of building types, which will help to sort buildings that are schools or administrative buildings, or even those buildings that are marked as warehouses if you are using the Inventory module. The table below describes the fields used on this screen.
Field Name | Description |
---|---|
Abbreviation | This field displays the shortened name for the current building type, such as "EL" instead of "Elementary School". The value in this field will be used in lists and reports where the building type's full description cannot be displayed. |
Description | This field displays the full name of the building type, such as "Elementary School". |
Sort Order | This field displays the sorting priority for the item. You may only use numeric values when filling this field. Building types with a lower sort order value will be displayed in lists earlier than those with a higher sort order value. |
School | If you select "School", the building will be marked as a school, allowing patrons to be enrolled and transactions to be processed. If you are using the Inventory module, you may also select an option for buildings marked as Schools, allowing you to add inventory items to those buildings. |
Administration | If you select "Administration", the building will be marked as an administrative building, preventing patrons from being enrolled but allowing transactions to be processed. If you are using the Inventory module, you may also select an option for buildings marked as Administration, allowing you to add inventory items to those buildings. |
Warehouse | If you select "Warehouse", the building will be marked as a warehouse, preventing patrons from being enrolled and transactions from being processed. Buildings with a "Warehouse" building type will be created with the Inventory option already selected, and this option cannot be disabled for these buildings. |
Active | Check this box to make the item active, or leave it unchecked to make the item inactive. |
