When a Patron is added to an Application, you must select an Application Type from the drop-down menu provided. Below are listed the available Application Types:
| Application Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Application | This is the default Application Type, and has no effect on the patron's eligibility or that of other patrons on the same application. |
| Community Eligibility | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron is enrolled in a school that has been designated as Community Eligible by a local authority. Patrons with this Application Type will automatically receive Free eligibility. This application type has no effect on the eligibility of other patrons on the same application. |
| Direct Certification | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron has been pre-certified by the local authority, such as a food stamp authority or county authority, as being eligible to receive free meals without needing to submit an application. All patrons on an application with at least one Direct Certified patron automatically receive an eligibility of Free. |
| Emancipated | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron is an emancipated minor. An emancipated minor who lives alone as a household of one or as a member of a household with no adult household members must sign his or her own application. An emancipated minor is not required to provide a social security number on the Application, but otherwise has no effect on the patron's eligibility or that of other patrons on the same application. |
| Foster Child | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron is participating in foster care. Patrons with this Application Type will automatically receive Free eligibility. This application type has no effect on the eligibility of other patrons on the same application. |
| Head Start | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron is participating in the Head Start program. Patrons with this Application Type will automatically receive Free eligibility. This application type has no effect on the eligibility of other patrons on the same application. |
| Homeless | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron is Homeless. Patrons with this Application Type will automatically receive Free eligibility. This application type has no effect on the eligibility of other patrons on the same application. |
| Import | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron's eligibility was included as part of a data import. Patrons with this Application Type will receive the same eligibility that they previously received. |
| Institutional | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron is residing in an institution, such as a group home or orphanage. Patrons with this Application Type will automatically receive Free eligibility. This application type has no effect on the eligibility of other patrons on the same application. |
| Migrant | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron is a member of a Migrant family. Patrons with this Application Type will automatically receive Free eligibility. This application type has no effect on the eligibility of other patrons on the same application. |
| Remote - Free | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron was eligible for Free status in another district. This application type has no effect on the eligibility of other patrons on the same application. |
| Remote - Reduced | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron was eligible for Reduced status in another district. This application type has no effect on the eligibility of other patrons on the same application. |
| Runaway | Use this Application Type if the selected Patron is a Runaway. Patrons with this Application Type will automatically receive Free eligibility. This application type has no effect on the eligibility of other patrons on the same application. |
