Vending Machines: Terminal Configuration

Once you have created a Terminal and a POS Layout, and have configured the vending machine itself to communicate with the server, you can create a Terminal Configuration. The following steps will guide you through the process of setting up a Terminal Configuration, which is the final step in configuring your vending machine with eTrition 7.

  1. Within eTrition 7, navigate to Setup > Point of Sale > Terminal Configuration using the menus at the top of the screen.
  2. Select a Configuration Type. If you want to use the same POS Layout and configuration settings for all of the terminals in your district, select System. You can also set configuration settings by School Type, Site, or specific Terminal.
  3. Select a Configuration. If you selected Terminal for the Configuration Type, you will need to locate the specific Terminal for your vending machine using the search window that appears.
  4. Select Vending Machines under Terminal Settings For. If you selected the vending machine as the Terminal, this option will already be selected. Click Select to open the Configuration screen.
  5. Click Add New to create a new Terminal Configuration for this Terminal. This will open the Vending Machine Setup window.
  6. Select a Session for which this configuration will be used.
  7. Select a Vending Machine Type. If you are using a Star Food Vending Machine, select Star Food. If you are using a Vend-ucation Vending Machine, select Vend-ucation. The POS Layout drop-down menu will be activated.
  8. Select a POS Layout from the drop-down menu provided.
  9. If you are using a 232 Card Reader, you must set the POS PIN is Primary check-box as active.
  10. If you want to require the vending machine to ask for a Birthdate, set the Require Birthdate check-box as active. Note that if you do not set the Require Birthdate check-box as active, and the vending machine is set to ask for a birth date, the Terminal will receive and read the birth date anyway. Only set this option if you want to prevent the vending machine from serving if it is not configured to ask for a birth date in the Options Menu.
  11. If you wish to allow charges exceeding the Patron's current available balance, select Allow Charges. The vending machine will still not allow the Patron to exceed the Charge Limit if his or her balance is too low.
  12. Click Save.

If you wish to create additional configurations for other Sessions, you may do so by clicking Add New and repeating steps 6 through 11 above. At any time you can edit an existing configuration by clicking the icon in the Terminal Configuration table. Additional information on Terminal Configurations is available in the Terminal Configuration page-level help. Otherwise, your vending machine is now configured and ready to use.
