Vending Machines: Terminal Setup

Once you have configured the vending machine, you will need to create a Terminal in eTrition 7 to connect the vending machine to the server. The following steps will walk you through the process of creating and setting up the vending machine terminal. These steps assume that you followed all of the steps in Initial Setup and have either assigned a Machine Name or written down the MAC Address for the machine, depending on the Vending Protocol your system is using.

1. Within eTrition 7, navigate to Setup > Point of Sale > Terminals using the menus at the top of the screen.
2. Click Add New to create a new Terminal. This will open the Add Terminal screen.
3. Enter a Name and Number for the Terminal. Note that the name and number cannot be the same as any existing Terminal in your district.
4. Select a Site for the Terminal. In most cases, this is the school where the vending machine is or will be located.
5. Select Vending Machine from the Type drop-down menu. Two new fields will appear, Vending Machine Type and Machine Name.
6. Select a Vending Machine Type from the drop-down menu based on the kind of vending machine you are using.
7. Fill in the Machine Name field. If you are using the 08 Protocol, you must enter the MAC Address you located within the vending machine; if you are using the StarLink Standard or Vend-Connect Protocols, you must enter "Machine #", where # is the number of the vending machine as configured in the IP Menu of the vending machine itself.
8. Click Save to create the vending machine.
