Vending Machines: POS Layout

Once you have created a Terminal, you will want to create a POS Layout for the vending machine to use when serving Sales Items. The POS Layout you create will assign prices to each of the vending machine's doors, allowing the vending machine to process payment quickly as soon as the transaction is completed. The following steps will walk you through the process of creating a POS Layout for vending machines.

 

Note that if you change the contents of the vending machine to different Sales Items, you will need to either edit an existing POS Layout or create a new one.

 

  1. Within eTrition 7, navigate to Setup > Point of Sale > Meal Service Layout using the menus at the top of the screen.
  2. Click Add New to create a new POS Layout.  This will open the Add POS Layout screen.
  3. Enter a name for the POS Layout. Note that the name must not currently be in use by another POS Layout.
  4. Select a Layout Type from the drop-down menu provided. If you are using a Star Food Vending Machine, select Star Food Vending Machines; if you are using a Vend-ucation Vending Machine, select Vend-ucation Vending Machines. The page layout section will change to display only the keys that the vending machine will use.
  5. Click on the first box in the layout to open the Edit Vending Button window.
  6. Select a Sales Item from the drop-down list.
  7. Select a Patron Type from the drop-down list. This will determine the Patron Type for whom the selected item will be available.
  8. Enter a Label for the button.
  9. Click Add to add the key to the table. Note that if you selected a Patron Type other than All Patrons, you will need to create a separate key for each Patron Type, or unmapped Patron Types will not be able to purchase the selected Sales Item.
  10. Click Close to close the window.
  11. Repeat steps 5 through 10 for each of the remaining buttons.
  12. Click Save to create the POS Layout.

 

At any time you can edit an existing POS Layout or create a new one. Additional information on how to edit POS Layouts is provided in Meal Service Layout. Otherwise, you may proceed to Terminal Configuration to set the final preferences for the vending machine terminal.
